Are you sleeping enough?

The latest article on health says that afternoon napping will make you smarter.

"While the findings are preliminary, new research raises the prospect that sleep, specifically a lengthy afternoon nap, prepares the brain to remember things. Think of it as similar to rebooting a computer to get it to work more smoothly."

The article talks of a particular state of sleep called REM (Rapid eye movement) that occurs between deep sleep and dream state, as a memory- refreshing state - just like the way a computer's memory gets refreshed on rebooting.

Take a print out of this article and stick it at your desk so that the next time you are caught napping after a good lunch, you can explain it all by saying - "I am trying to increase my productivity since I believe that I need to be equally attentive at the end of the day as much as I am when I start work at 8 am. Now, tell me, you want me to remember all that we discussed in that oh-so-boring meeting in the morning right. Well, I bet you do coz I caught you napping during the meeting."
